Phase 2 Brewing – Leesburg, Virginia
Phase 2 Brewing is a nano brewery located inside of the Brew Loco coffeehouse. Phase 2 Brewing emphasizes fresh, small batch brews.
The Beer: Sean, Luke, and Varun all tried and enjoyed Phase 2 Brewing’s flagship IPA, Sibling Rivalry. This IPA is brewed with a well balanced combination of Citra and Mosaic hops.
Sean also tried the It’s a Shore Thing Oyster Stout. This dry stout was creamy, earthy and delicious. As it was being consumed the beer left behind stunningly beautiful, cloudy lacing on the glass. The freshness of this stout was apparent.
Varun tried the Mango Mama Double IPA. The Mango Mama is a fruity and hoppy concoction that effectively combines the boldness of a DIPA with the sweet and welcoming nature of mango.
Luke tried the FRyePA, a rye IPA. With this IPA the spiciness from the rye is right up front and dominant. There is a backdrop of hoppy bitterness that compliments this well balanced, rye forward IPA
The Atmosphere: The atmosphere at Phase 2 is exactly what you would want from a duo brewery and coffee shop. It has the laid back feel of a brewery with its freestanding tables and bartop, but it also has the welcoming and homey feel of a coffee shop. The decor is modern and full of personality, and it is an extremely inviting place to come relax and enjoy whatever delicious beverage you prefer.
